Day 1 – Arrival & Bulloo River Channels

• Pick-up from Thargomindah Airport

• Transfer to accommodation at the Bulloo River Hotel

• Afternoon guided tour of the Bulloo River channel systems

• Birdwatching focus on riverine and floodplain species

• Overnight in Thargomindah

Day 2 – Lake Bindigolly National Park

• Travel to Lake Bindigolly National Park

• Guided tour of the sandhills and shoreline on the north-east side of the bridge

• Shore walk and sandhill exploration on the north-west side

• Visit the rare and endangered Acacia ammophila
  This is only the second known location of this species worldwide

• Excellent opportunities for bird photography

• Return to Thargomindah for overnight stay

Day 3 – Lake Bullawarra & Bulloo Downs

• Travel via the Bulloo Development Road to Gidgee Grid

• Observe:

  • Chirruping Wedgebill

  • Black Honeyeater

  • Lewin’s Honeyeater

  • Hall’s Babbler

  • Brown Pardalote

• Continue to the north-western shores of Lake Bullawarra

• Birding within the designated Travelling Stock Route Reserve

• Species may include spoonbills, herons, dotterels, ducks, and grebes

• Observe Orange Chats, White-winged Fairy-wrens, and raptors

• Return to Thargomindah for overnight stay

Day 4 – Thargomindah Wetlands & Departure

• Morning birdwatching at the Thargomindah Golf Club water reserves

• Species may include:

  • Australasian Swamp Hen
