The Bulloo Explorer is your gateway to some of the most remarkable birding locations in Western Queensland’s Channel Country. Over 8 days (7 nights), you’ll explore Thargomindah’s hidden birding gems, walk the shores of Lake Bindegolly, and roam the wide-open spaces of Kilcowra Station.

Immerse yourself in the rich history and biodiversity of Currawinya National Park, visit historic shearing sheds, and take in panoramic views from outback lookouts. This tour blends exceptional birdwatching with the charm of rural Australia, staying in comfortable local accommodations that showcase true outback hospitality.

Please note: This tour departs only on Wednesdays and Sundays to match the regional flight arrivals and departures, ensuring seamless travel logistics.

• Day 1 – Arrival in Thargomindah
  Arrival Sunday or Wednesday. Check into Bulloo River Hotel. Afternoon tour of locations on Thargomindah Town Common - overnight Thargomindah

• Day 2 – Lake Bindegolly & Stock Reserve
  Travel to Lake Bindigolly National Park. Return to Thargomindah. Overnight Thargomindah

• Day 3 – Thargomindah to Kilcowra Station
  Travel to Kilcowra Station and spend the day birding across its vast and varied landscapes. Overnight at Kilcowra.

• Day 4 – Kilcowra to Hungerford & Currawinya
  Travel to Currawinya National Park. NPWS HQ Ourimperee Water Hole and Currawinya Woolshed and Shearer’s Huts. Travel to Hungerford and check into Royal Mail Hotel.

• Day 5 – Currawinya RAMSAR Lakes
  Travel to RAMSAR Lakes Wyara and Lake Numulla. Visit The Granites. Return to Hungerford. Overnight Royal Mail Hotel.

• Day 6 – Myninya & Boogara Woolshed
  Travel to Myninya Water Hole and across to Boogara Woolshed. Return to Hungerford. Overnight Royal Mail Hotel.

• Day 7 – Lookout & Werewilke Track
  Travel to Lookout and Myninya Water Hole. Travel Werewilke Track return to Thargomindah. Overnight Bulloo River Hotel.

• Day 8 – Return to Thargomindah
  Travel to Bulloo Development Road. Hall’s Babblers. Return to Thargomindah. Depart Thargomindah.
